Nearfield champion A17-M

For many professionals, the PSI Audio A17-M is the monitor of choice for nearfield applications. While relatively compact in size, the speaker design allows for an impressive frequency range from 43 Hz to 23 kHz – all analogue and without digital trickery. More importantly, this frequency range is reproduced as accurately as possible, without colouration or distortion. Its phase coherence is outstanding, creating a particularly vivid, lifelike sound image with all the depth and width the source material has to offer.

Swiss precision tweeter

While the woofer remains the same 175 mm membrane, the updated version of the PSI Audio A17-M features the new tweeter that was implemented in the A14-M last year. Since the market had nothing to offer that truly met the demands of the PSI Audio engineers, they decided to just create the entire driver themselves. This gave PSI Audio full control over every step of the production process, resulting in a tweeter of unique properties, perfectly complementing the overall speaker design. The A17-M has always been an enticingly accurate listening tool; with the updated high-frequency driver, it comes even closer to the absolute fidelity of sound. Minimum distortion at maximum power – and all that combined with the extensive catalogue of innovative technologies from PSI Audio.

PSI Audio technology for outstanding performance

Apart from the tweeter and the adjustments its implementation required, the PSI Audio A17-M remains the same speaker – as fans of the model will undoubtedly learn with delight. Employing proprietary PSI Audio innovations, the A17-M has always been an outstanding example for natural sound reproduction. Compensated Phase Response (CPR), Adaptive Output Impedance (AOI) and Class G/H amplifiers are all part of the PSI Audio DNA and contribute to the impressively precise performance of the A17-M. The all-analogue design also negates the introduction of digital artefacts through unnecessary conversion. There is no compromising the signal through DSPs in order to compensate for flaws in speaker design – it is just pure circuit design done well. The real thing.

Developed and manufactured in Switzerland

Developing and manufacturing a tweeter is the logical continuation of the general philosophy of PSI Audio. While market-bought solutions may work fine in some cases, achieving perfection is only possible when every part, every bit of the product is made precisely as it is needed. That is why PSI Audio manufactures the overwhelming majority of components in the company’s own manufacture in Switzerland. From the spools for the drivers to the final calibration of the finished speaker in the anechoic chamber, every step of production lies in the hands of the experienced PSI Audio staff. The measuring protocol each and every product comes with is a testament to the care and precision with which these speakers are built.
