Dates and participation

Yverdon-les-Bains, XX. August 2018 – PSI Audio joins forces with mbakustik, Zaor Studio Furniture and the Abbey Road Institute to tour through Germany. Three dates in October and November give audio enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy presentations on the basics of acoustics and the approaches of the partaking companies.

High precision analogue speakers: PSI Audio

PSI Audio CEO Roger Roschnik introduces the attendees to the Swiss precision of their monitors. The high-end active monitors are built by hand and calibrated in the company’s own manufacture to ensure maximum playback accuracy. The entirely analogue speakers employ innovative technology like class G power amps, Compensated Phase Response and Adaptive Output Impedance. Roger Roschnik will shed some light on the technological backgrounds of these systems during his presentation. The sonic results can be experienced by the participants themselves in a listening session at the event’s end.

Active bass trap to combat room modes: AVAA C20

In addition, PSI Audio presents the groundbreaking AVAA system. The active bass trap AVAA C20 uses smart analogue electronics and an active membrane to generate a kind of acoustic “hole” that eliminates room modes. The system is extremely compact and mobile, taking up only very little space in the room, and can easily be moved. Roger Roschnik introduces the active bass trap in the course of the workshop and explains the underlying acoustic principles.

Making the room sound: mbakustik

Osnabrück-based company mbakustik has acquired an excellent reputation through years of experience in room acoustics and realizing projects for audio, video, broadcast and multimedia studios as well as event locations and theatres. The acoustics specialists combine classic engineering including measuring, planning and consulting with German craftsmanship. In his presentation, Markus Bertram outlines the basic principles of studio acoustics and explains typical approaches when optimizing a room, illustrated with examples from his work.

On building a studio and education: Abbey Road Institute

The Abbey Road Institute is the training facility of world famous Abbey Road Studios in London. After London, Paris, Melbourne and Amsterdam, the extensive knowledge of the Abbey Road Studios’ engineers is now also passed on to students in Berlin and Frankfurt. The curriculum, designed by renowned music producers, engineers and education professionals, concludes with the “Advanced Diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering”. Institute director Ulli Schiller explains the curriculum and the peculiarities of the PCL teaching concept employed at Abbey Road Institutes. He also gives interesting insight into planning and building a modern music production studio with multiple control and recording rooms.

Furnished for efficiency: Zaor Studio Furniture

Zaor supplies audio studios and musicians with high-quality, yet affordable studio furniture since 2006. From tried and tested, serially produced products to individually designed unique pieces, the manufacturer creates top-class studio furniture. With innovative solutions and practiced aesthetics, Zaor aims to improve audio professionals’ workplaces so they can work freely and intuitively. In his presentation, CEO Klaus Gehlhaar talks about the amalgamation of ergonomics and aesthetics. Besides the acoustical aspects, the expert uses examples to showcase how studios can be designed for maximum productivity and hospitability.
