What is the difference between an AVAA and a passive bass trap?

A passive bass trap absorbs low-frequency energy using physical materials such as mineral wool, fiberglass, foam, or membrane absorbers. An AVAA (Active Velocity Acoustic Absorber) uses a microphone, electronics, and a loudspeaker to actively absorb bass energy. Instead of relying on large amounts of material, it creates a low-acoustic-impedance boundary that "pulls" low-frequency energy out of [...]

What is the best gain/sensitivity setting?

My AVAA shows signs of instability/ringing. The AVAA has been designed to absorb room modes in low frequencies. It is composed, amongst others, of a loudspeaker and microphone which can be sensitive to feedback from the close environment (up to about 1.50 m around). The feedback is audible and ranges from a slight ringing to a clear instability [...]

What result can be expected from the AVAA?

When the AVAAs are positioned in a high pressure area of a room mode, the room mode resonance time (RT60) is typically reduced by 30% to 50%. The result is less low frequency ringing, clearer mids and highs with reduced masking effect and better imaging.

After successfully connecting the AVAA C214, the blue LED breathes as if trying to connect

A breathing blue LED normally indicates the device’s Wi-Fi interface is active and waiting for full confirmation of the connection (standard behavior during Wi-Fi setup).  In some cases, especially right after resetting network credentials, the AVAA C214 may lose its saved connection when powered off and show the breathing blue LED when restarted. This is due to a known firmware [...]

Device disappears in the application after successfully connecting it

After pairing your AVAA device with the app, it might look like it disappears from view — but it hasn’t actually disconnected. This usually happens because the app collapses the device list by default after pairing. Here’s how to find it again: Open the PSI Audio/AVAA app and go to the main screen. Look for the small downward [...]
